The Church at Park and Bond stands as a testament to the resilience and craftsmanship of earlier generations. Built in an era where stone and wood were shaped into soaring sanctuaries, the building embodies the beauty and permanence of Johnstown’s past. Yet, like many old churches across America, it had fallen quiet — its congregation scattered, its halls silent. Seeing its potential and sensing a divine calling, Carl Seel stepped forward with a vision: to restore the Church not just as a place of Sunday worship, but as a vibrant hub for the entire community.
Carl Seel brings a pastoral heart and entrepreneurial spirit to this endeavor. His approach honors the Church’s original mission — to be a house of prayer, hope, and fellowship — while recognizing the evolving needs of the broader community. Under his leadership, the Church at Park and Bond will once again ring with life, hosting not only services and Bible studies, but also a wide variety of events that draw people together across all walks of life.
Seel's Vision
Another innovative element of Seel’s vision is the formation of a Wine Tasting Club. Recognizing that many in the community seek wholesome and enriching social experiences, the Club will offer a place for fellowship, education, and enjoyment. Local vineyards and regional winemakers will be invited to showcase their products, tying the Church even more deeply to the community’s cultural and economic life.
Core Identity
Throughout all these activities the Church’s core identity as a place of faith will remain. Sunday services, community outreach, prayer meetings, and pastoral care will continue to be central. For Carl Seel, the broader events are not distractions from the mission of the Church but extensions of it — ways to draw people back into the sanctuary, to remind them that the Church is, and always has been, a gathering place for hope, renewal, and community spirit.
